The expanding energy brokerage sector in the North East will see the creation of more than 200 new jobs.
The Green Energy Advice Bureau is looking to triple its current headcount with the creation of 200 new posts and has taken a 10-year lease on new offices on the Newcastle Business Park to add to its current sites in South Shields and Sunderland.
Meanwhile Washington firm Tritility, which was formed last year, is creating 30 new posts.
The companies are the latest energy brokers in the region to announce expansion, following similar moves in recent months by Gateshead’s Northern Gas and Power, and the Seaham-based Great Annual Savings Group.
Both firms said their new workspaces would be compliant with social distancing measures linked to the Covid-19 outbreak, with the Green Energy Advice Bureau aiming to triple its current headcount of around 100 in the next year.
Green Energy Advice Bureau managing director Paul Cobb said: “We are delighted to be in a position to grow the company further with our introduction of a Tyneside location.
“It’s an exciting time for potential candidates to join our fantastic ever-growing workforce. Since our reintroduction to office-based working everyone has adapted well with the changes and productivity is better than ever.”
Russell Meadows, commercial director at Caudwell Properties, added: “We are pleased to welcome The Green Energy Bureau and support their next chapter of growth in the North East.
“The refurbishment of Weymouth House was completed to a high standard and the building, part of the original first phase of Newcastle Business Park, has always stood in an enviable position at the eastern gateway of the wider scheme.”
Tritility has recently taken on additional space at its site in Washington and said it would be creating 30 new jobs to add to its current headcount of 50.
Director Jamie Wyatt said: “We are all delighted with the progress that we’ve made over the last 18 months and the hard work of our team in helping to create the foundation to grow our business. Our latest expansion adds capacity for us to create another 30 living wage jobs in the North East.
“I am particularly proud of the recognition we are receiving as an alternative working environment to some of the other larger, North East based energy consultancies and that we continue to attract great talent because of our culture and our philosophy of putting people first. One of my main objectives is to ensure that we maintain this culture as we continue with our growth.”
