Jamaica’s Kobe Lawrence captured the Boys’ Under-20 shot put title in record-breaking fashion at the 2022 Carifta games inside the National Stadium just this evening.

Lawrence took home gold with a throw of 20.2 metres, breaking the Carfita record previously held by Jamaica’s Warren Barrett (19.97 in 2016).

Lawrence’s teammate, Christopher Young, was second in 19.12, while Kevon Hinds of Barbados was third in 16.18.

The win was Lawrence turning the tables on Young, who beat him at the ISSA/GraceKennedy Boys and Girls’ Athletics Championship just last week.

The victory was also Lawrence’s second gold of these Carifta games, having won the Under-20
