Veteran 400-metre specialist, Stephenie-Ann McPherson picked up Jamaica’s first medal at the World Athletics Indoor Championships in Belgrade, Serbia after producing a personal best and national indoor record of 50.79 seconds to finish third for bronze in the women’s 400.

The Bahamas, Shaunae Miller Uibo, the Olympic Games champion, won the gold medal after clocking a season’s best 50.31 seconds. Femke Bol of the Netherlands took the silver after finishing second in 50.57 seconds.
