Arguably the greatest spinner of all time, and certainly the greatest leg-spinner, Shane Warne, has died. Warne was 52.

A release from Warne’s management team confirmed that the great Australian passed while in Koh Samui, Thailand.

While investigations into Warne’s passing are still at an early stage, it is suspected he suffered from a heart attack.

“Shane was found unresponsive in his villa and despite the best efforts of medical staff, he could not be revived,” read a statement from Warne’s management.

The statement also went on to say Warne’s family was asking for privacy at this time.

Another Australian legend, Rod Marsh, passed just 24 hours before, also from heart complications.

Warne, in 15 years of cricket for Australia, took 708 Test wickets, with only Sri Lanka’s Muttiah Muralitharan taking more.

The leg spinner was part of dominant Australian cricket teams throughout his career, winning the World Cup in 1999, as well as winning five Ashes.

Warne’s has best match figures of 12-128, and 7-81 in an innings.

The spinner, who played fewer One-Day Internationals, took 293 wickets with a career best of 5-33.
