An historic Caribbean hotel has new life.
The Renaissance Santo Domingo Jaragua Hotel and Casino has officially debuted, following a $40 million renovation that began in 2014.
The property, which plays a major role in the cultural history of the Dominican Republic’s capital, is now a blend of historic aspects and ultra-modern design elements.
“Santo Domingo is a historic city in the Caribbean with rich tradition and a vibrant local culture,” said Dan Vinh, Vice President Marketing, Renaissance Hotels. “We are incredibly excited to unveil the renovated Renaissance Santo Domingo Jaragua Hotel & Casino and invite our guests to discover the local flavor of Santo Domingo.”
The hotel, which was first built in 1942, has 300 guest rooms and suites, along with an outdoor pool, casino, tennis club and spa, along with the La Fiesta theater, which hosts up to 1,200 guests.
The hotel is the third Marriott hotel in Santo Domingo, along with the recently-debuted JW Marriott and the Courtyard Santo Domingo.
