Hydel High School’s sprint sensation Brianna Lyston had tongues wagging ahead of tonight’s massive Class One girls 100m final at the ISSA/GraceKennedy Boys and Girls Championships with an impressive semi-final win at the National Stadium.
Lyston cruised to victory in semi-final two in 11.28 seconds. Edwin Allen High’s Tina Clayton, the World Under-20 champion, was second in the event in 11.61. Tina’s twin sister Tia won semi-final one in 11.69. The final is set for 7:45 p.m.
Among the other top contenders advancing to the final were Shenese Walker of St Jago High (11.81) and Alexis James of Petersfield (11.88).
Kerrica Hill of Hydel High leads all qualifiers advancing to the Class Two girls 100m final. She won semi-final one in 11.73.
She is expected to be challenged strongly for the gold medal by her teammate Alana Reid, who won semi-final two in 11.76. Mount Alvernia’s Carletta Bernard’s 12.06 is the third fastest time.
