Hydel High School’s Kerrica Hill leads all qualifiers for Sunday’s girls’ under-20 100-metre hurdles on the final day of the JAAA Carifta Trials at the National Stadium.

Hill won her heat in 13.48 seconds while her high school teammate, Oneka Wilson, was also in winning form, stopping the clock in 13.68 to qualify as well.

Also through to the finals later today are Petersfield’s Alexis James, who was nippy, finishing her heat in 13.56 seconds.

Hydel will have three in the final, as Shania Myers has also made it with her 13.87-second clocking.

Immaculate’s Essence Burbridge (14.05), Glengoffe’s Alexia Austin ((14.09), round out the list of automatic qualifiers, while St Jago’s Kay-Lagay Clarke (14.14), and St Catherine’s Asharria Ulett, who also clocked 14.14, are the two fastest losers to make it through.

Among the under-20 boys, Calabar High School’s Dishaun Lamb was quickest through to the final of the 110m hurdles, stopping the clock at 13.97 seconds, while St Jago’s Jahvel Granville had the second quickest time, winning his heat in 13.98.

In the slowest heat of the day, Kingston College’s Amontae Wray, was through to the final, winning in 14.03.

St Elizabeth Technical High School’s (STETHS) Shamer Blake (14.17), and Vere Technical’s Matthew Sullivan (14.38) round out the other qualifiers.

St Jago’s Demario Prince (14.24) and his teammate Andre Harris (14.53), are the non-automatic qualifiers.

In the under-17 boys 110m hurdles, the quickest of the morning was Excelsior High School’s Daniel Wright (13.88), while Calabar High School’s Shaquane Gordon qualified with 13.98 seconds.

Daniel Clarke of Kingston College was beaten by Wright in his heat, but qualified with a time of 14.14. Clarke’s teammate, Jadan Campbell, was also second in his heat, qualifying in a time of 14.17. Campbell finished well in front of Jamaica College’s Jay-Zyre Turner, 14.41. Turner is also through to the final.

Also through to the under 17 final are STETHS’ Rickoy Hunter (14.52) and non-automatic qualifiers, St Jago’s Demario Brown (14.68) and Calabar’s Shevaughn Pryce (14.97).
