“In order to be irreplaceable, one must always be different.” Strutting new life into the words of Coco Chanel is local fashion modelling agency, Saint International. The pioneer company celebrates another major global marquee moment with Saint supermodel Romaine Dixon.
‘Jaminating’ on supersized advertising billboards in Paris, Dixon is seen starring in several stories high in a new global campaign for the iconic French department store Printemps.
The elated freckle-faced 21-year-old told Gleaner Entertainment that it feels amazing to share in this incredible experience. “I had always hoped that I would have gotten an ad like this some day but I wasn’t sure it could have happened this soon.”
Still basking on cloud nine, a reflective Dixon, the Select Model Management in Paris told The Gleaner, “It’s a major accomplishment for not just my career but also as a person who was teased about my features growing up to now being highlighted on this magnitude, it’s a major boost to my self-esteem too.” His image is currently being used in the coveted marquee spot at Printemps’ legendary Boulevard Haussmann location, which is akin to Times Square in New York City.
BACK TO JAMAICA
Dixon returned to his humble abode in Sligoville, St Catherine, from a packed itinerary of European modelling assignments three months ago. “I had seen a preview of the ads in the store back in February when I was in Paris and was already super-excited to be there, but now to be on the storefront in one of the busiest places in Paris, it’s just unbelievable,” the Saint model disclosed.
Despite disruptions amid COVID-19, the superstar’s 2020 was off to a remarkable start, with a litany of achievements. Among the list is being revealed as one of two faces for the Spring/Summer men’s advertising campaign for the powerful Italian brand Fendi in January. By February, the Jamaican model debuted in the ad campaign for the European luxury streetwear label Ports V. He also appeared in a New York Times magazine editorial in the same month. In March, he was the cover of French male fashion bible Essential Homme men’s magazine, while also showcased in e-commerce ads for Hermes, A Cold Wall, and Fendi. And just this month, the highly influential models.com ranked Dixon on its Hot List.
Discovered back in 2017 in social media casting call, Saint CEO Deiwght Peters landed the model rookie Dior men’s global ad campaign in 2018. He was named by Vogue among the ‘Top 10 New Male Models to Watch’ that same year. His runway resume is also impressive, encompassing fashion brands such as Valentino, Dior, Versace, Tom Ford, Fendi, and others.
“Romaine is a male superstar like I have never seen. The dizzying pace of his success is historic. Shortly after starting he nabbed the highly coveted Dior international campaign and then followed up with FENDI and a slew of others. No male model in history from the Caribbean has had this kind of global commercial achievement in the short space of time,” shares Peters on his protégé.
The six-feet-three-inches tall Dixon, a recent Excelsior College graduate who majored in supply chain and logistics management, is looking forward to scoring more magazine covers and lookbook shots to show others they can achieve a lot, too, if they work hard, keep focused, and have good agents.
